ENERGY STAR
Introduced by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ENERGY STAR is committed to reduce green-house emissions by increasing energy efficiency. Products that have earned the ENERGY STAR label have met strict energy-efficiency requirements set by the government.
AOpen provides ENERGY STAR registration support for resellers wanting to sell ENERGY STAR qualified computers. To qualify products for the ENERGY STAR label program, subscribers need to become an ENERGY STAR partner. Products are reviewed to determine ENERGY STAR eligibility. There is no cost for subscribers to become ENERGY STAR qualified.
To register products in ENERGY STAR, please follow recommended steps below:
1. Determine computer product to be submitted for ENERGY STAR label.
2. Download ENERGY STAR® Program Requirements for Computers document.
3. Download Manufacturer Partnership Agreement Packet and submit to join@energystar.gov
4. Approved subscribers receive a Welcome Aboard Packet via email. Packet includes program information, usernames and passwords to access ENERGY STAR submittal tools.
5. Submit product for lab testing ENERGY STAR requirements and visit ENERGY STAR'S Computer Key Product Criteria to view independent computer requirements.
Subscriber must submit lab-testing results to ENERGY STAR if:
- Subscriber wishes to use alternative hardware configurations besides AOpen's XC Mini MP45 Series. Subscriber must find desired cpu and hardrive to submit fully-configured system for testing.
- Subscriber alters the cpu and/or memory configurations in any way.
- AOpen offers passing ENERGY STAR pre-configured hardware specifications for its XC Mini MP45 Series barebone platform available to its reseller partners that may be used to receive the ENERGY STAR label. Third party resellers must join ENERGY STAR as a Retailer Partner and sumbit the XC Mini MP45 Series as a qualified product. Third-party resellers must use the same passing test results for the XC Mini MP45 Series.
6. Register as an ENERGY STAR partner and view product registry progress.
7. Subscriber receives approval or rejection product review results.
8. ENERGY STAR will list qualified computer products once approved.
9. Approved products may be marketed as ENERGY STAR qualified.
